Okay. I don't write stories, so maybe someone else can do this.
Anyways, today when I was on the bus, I just had a great idea.
So there's this kid whose parents are dead, and his stepparents take care of him. They beat him (child abuse) etc.
So he gets into law school and becomes a lawyer.
And he sues his own stepparents.
LIKE A BOSS.

Uhh.. Right. Is this appropriate?

At the first part where his parents are beaten up and killed, it sounded somewhat like a story I've read... *cough*HARRYPOTTER*cough*
Also, you could have a sequel where he tracks down the guy who killed his parents.

that's probably been done before
try something less cliche'
hmm
how about a story about a kid who suspects his parents probably adopted him, as they look nothing alike. then maybe you could make it 20 years later, he moves out. but because of this he's stuck at a low paying job at a food restaurant and his boss only cares about money. he can have a friend that has the mental capacity of a 3 year old or something to make it more dramatic. and then maybe to top it all off he could live in a pineapple under the sea.
