There are no server lists. To join a server you go onto 'multiplayer' on the main menu then type in the server's ip in 'direct connect'.

In minecraft you start off collecting wood, by holding down the left mouse button. To place blocks you right click. Once you've got the wood you can create tools and stuff to begin mining and building and fighting and exploring and enchanting and discovering and eating and pooping and not actually pooping.

Not so boring when a creeper comes and blows your house up, leaving you alone to fight off endless hordes of monsters WHILE juggling that with building.
