Scratch Day - May 16, 2009

Last year, we were excited to host more than 300 Scratch educators and enthusiasts at the first Scratch@MIT conference.

This year, we're trying something different. We're reaching out to the Scratch community to organize a network of gatherings, on the same day in all parts of the world, where people can meet, share, and learn more about Scratch. Already, Scratch Day events are being planned in Colombia, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Palestine, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, and Uruguay, as well as the United States, in Texas, Alabama, Minnesota, and Massachusetts.

We're hoping that you'll participate in a Scratch Day gathering on May 16 – or even organize one. You could arrange a hands-on workshop to introduce newcomers to Scratch, or an exhibition to showcase projects by local Scratchers, or a session where educators share their experiences with Scratch, or an informal gathering where Scratchers can meet one another and exchange ideas. What will your Scratch Day look like?

Use this forum to ask questions, share your hopes for Scratch Day, and explore ways to contribute to Scratch Day events.

To learn more about Scratch Day, visit http://day.scratch.mit.edu.

Re: Scratch Day - May 16, 2009

Lol I'm kind of excited. I went to the other one at MIT last december, and it was pretty fun. I can't wait to see this one! I'll even bring my dads usb memory port thingy with a couple projects. Why did they choose the day to be May 16?

Why isn't there one in England? I'm really bad at organizing big things, and I don't know many people that would want to go.

Now you all wanna die like movie stars, you say.  As you jumped from the height of our cutting room floor.  While above us, glowing, exploding.  Our dreams burst forth in light and death!  Hold me and tell me we'll burn like stars!  We'll burn as we fall! Watch as city lights...transform us!

Cool! I can't go, as I live in California, but this will be good for Scratch. Maybe you could make one in California... It is the most populated state in the USA and is a nice place.  smile  If you could, could you put another one in Southern California? Maybe in Riverside  smile
