Hey, I'm Usatt1337. Usatt is United States Association of Table Tennis and 1337 means "leet" or elite (awesome). Thats where i get the name from. I love alternative music (and hollywood undead) q101 (chicago's alternative) (and parantheses). Just tonight I've made my first non-slideshow project, and personally I think it's pretty good for a first-time project compared to most of what I've seen so far. Check it out, or even better, check out my profile YOU WONT REGRET IT . Thanks for the warm welcome to the scratch community.

Hi all!
My name is John Kilby and I'm an Instructional Designer for an organization that creates online classes. Specifically, I work on designing the games, activities, characters, and stories featured in the classes.
I recently volunteered to help a group of local middle school students enter a competition where they have to create an educational game. After some researching and testing, I decided to have them learn and use Scratch to pull this off. I showed Scratch to them for the first time today and they seem to dig it.
As part of my testing, I've made a couple of projects already. I had a lot of fun creating those games... I have a background in computer science and a great deal of experience making games and activities in Flash, but the simplicity of Scratch makes it a blast to use. I would have loved to had this as a kid... all you students out there don't know how well you have it!
I hope to keep playing with Scratch and sharing what I create with the community.

I"m sure they are. When you're new to Scratch, it takes a while before you get to know a lot of people. Usually, after a while, you will become more known in the Scratch community. Everyone's like that when they're new. Don't worry.

Hey all,
/me is new too:-) The last programming that I did was in COBOL at the turn of the Century:-) Turbo Pascal, Basic and Logo was between '88 and '92. I've been digging around for a method to introduce programming logic to my 14yr old son and found a home for myself ;-) I made a very simple animation to demonstrate the logic to him..then explained the concept of Space Invaders and left him alone. He made something that will grow up to be SI in a few weeks ;-) It has a ship + aliens+bombs in the first hour (with a few bugs). I showed him how to score and explained HighScore. By the next day, his little game was debugged and displayed the Score+HighScore. I'll get him to register and post his game ASAP.
In the meantime:-) I'm working on Caterpillar...anyone remember that game?

izzy: open up scratch. see teh cat. make him move when you press arrows. add some sound effects. Add a 2nd object (sprite) and make it automatically move in a square formation, then set it to make a loud sound and change costume when it touches the cat.
you'll figure out the rest from there:-)
