Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

It would get pretty painful to go back and forth with the Wii Remote trying to get a certin block.  hmm

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

scratch on the wii will have different blocks:
no <mouse down>
no (mouse x) or (mouse y)
no {when key [] pressed}
no <key [] pressed>
no motor blocks
no (loudness) or <loud>
no pico sensor blocks

There should be, instead:
<button [dropdown of all wii buttons] of player () pressed>
([dropdown pointer/nunchuck] of player () x)
([same dropdown as above] of player () y)
([same dropdown] of player () z)
<nunchuck connected to player () >
(# of players)
{when button [dropdown of buttons] of player () pressed}
|disable home menu|
|enable home menu|
<home menu enabled>

maybe there could also be blocks to include the wii balance board???

also, there should be a way to convert computer scratch into wii scratch, but block differences must either be converted or obseletified

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

From Nintendo.com

The Internet Channel supports several Web applications and file types, such as .gif and .jpg images, as well as JavaScript. Please note that it does not support .PDF documents or Java applets.

From Wikipedia.org

The Opera-based Wii browser allows users full access to the Web and supports all the same web standards that are included in the desktop versions of Opera, including CSS and JavaScript. Like Opera 9, the Internet Channel fully passes the Acid2 web browser test. It is also possible for the browser to use technologies such as Ajax, RSS, and Adobe Flash.

Can It Support This?
Downloadable Scratch - No
Experimental Viewer - Yes
Flash Viewer - Yes
Java Viewer - No

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

Make it so scratch can hook up to the internet. Then hook the remote to the internet, and poof... at least you can control your project with the Wii remote.
[i]Edit: I've seen people hook Wii remotes up to the computer. Scratch 2.0 is supposed to be on the internet. People can hack it and make blocks... So that must mean that you could hook up the Wii remote to the internet and make a block in Scratch (2.0) that I something like this:  <button a pressed> The "a" would be a drop down menu. Someone could also make blocks for the nunchuck and the other old thingy. The nunchuck could have keys z and c and direction of control stick. That would be awesome. That way, you could make a scrolling game with the same controls as Mario (or any other game you like).

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

It doesn't have to be a scratch PLAYER... until the Wii/Scratch Team develops the technology. It could be a scratch APP for making projects, then you can connect to the computer and upload them to the site! It could be in the form of WiiWare.

We could find out what file type a Wii game is, and make a viewer for projects of that file type.

2.0 is going to be in flash and i know you can watch youtube on the wii. and even it it didn't work, they would make a hole new scratch for it. It would be completely different.

Hey! I wonder if somebody knows someone that works with nintendo (I don't know how to do the tm and stuff, so please forgive me.) and also knows about scratch. Now that would be a big help.

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

Wii™ doesn't support Java, so that's out of the question. Do you mean like, the actual Scratch app where you make the projects, or the website?  hmm

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

the scratch logo is not trademarked, nor the scratch name, so you don't have to put the tm sign after every time you type scratch.
