Is it really worth it price wise? Also, are there any tutorials for this online, or are you making this up as you go along?

Good luck.
Buy ten of those for $390 and you have 30Ghz of processing power. Wow cheap.
Or 341 for a Tera Hert of proccessing power. $13,000 That is cheap you should ask for bulk discount to get it down to $10000 or so.

Here's something for you to try. Get two computers and a CAT 5 cable. You can, with some alterations to the cable, link them together without buying an expensive switch board. Basicly you need to cut the cable and wire the out going communication wires of one computer to the in going wires of the other.

Why? Clustering is about linking CPUs not HDDs

This is all I have available at the moment that i'm willing to use for it.
I'm not having my normal computer be a part of it.
Also I have only a vague idea of how to use ubuntu. Why won't it let me install any programs?

r u trying to use the latest version (11.04)? have u got it installed? and with the programs r u installing then from the Ubuntu Software Centre or downloading them from the internet? if u download them from the internet, u will need to download any dependencies and install them first. the software centre does this automatically

Yes, I am using 11.04. And okay, I see now.
Although I feel like installing Windows instead so I have something familiar to work with.

Sound like if you get it working, it would be epic.
Another way you could do it for cheap (though it is not x86 or x64 compatible) is use the Propeller microcontroller from Parallax. It is a chip with a 32 bit octa-core (8 cores), 80 Mhz processor, 8KB of 32 bit RAM, and a 32 KB Spin (Spin is the high-level programming language made for the Propeller) interpreter in ROM.
It was designed for robots, but can put out NTSC (standard definition) video by itself, and you can use external RAM with it as long as the RAM run at 80Mhz or less.
The chip itself is only $8, but you can get a pre-made board for it for about $30-50.
