1 Or 2 Account Per Computer/ IP Ban

~1 Or 2 Account Per Computer~

Please make it so there can only be 1 or 2 accounts per computer!
There is sometimes spam on my game(s) that say  [Online Store! ful*****.com (Full website not said)] Then the scratch team usually removes that comment and account. BUT The spammer will create a new account and do the same thing, spam on my game.

~The IP ban~

If anyone makes an account, thier IP adress will be recorded. If the account gets removed by an admin, that IP adress will be added to the "block" list. If the same person makes another account on the same computer, this website will not allow.

These suggestions will help prevent spam  smile

The reason why they allow more than one account/computer is because if you were a family of three children, do you think the three children would want separate accounts?

then they'd need three, and if they only had one computer, they couldn't make three...

Re: 1 Or 2 Account Per Computer/ IP Ban

I suggest trolling the spammer. For example, when he spams on your game, tell him that you're really interested, and you'd buy whatever he's selling if he will at least glance at YOUR website. Then post a mirror to a browser hijacking rickroll.

For IP ban, a HideMy[removed](I can't say certain words here, so pretend the dollar signs are actually S) proxy or dynamic IP will pwn it.

EDIT:Also, you're not the first one to think about this. The Scratch Team started searching for solutions long ago.

Error:Signature could not load. Please wait for an indefinite amount of time, until you realize you're gullible and go off to look for another potentially interesting signature to stare at.

Actually, we have IP ban practice in place already. The Scratch website does use IP blocks and there is a system that keeps track of when someone tries to sign up to the site from a blocked IP address or the IP address of someone who is already blocked from the site. What's tricky is that the spammer is constantly changing his/her/it's (yes, "it", the Scratch Team suspects the spammer is likely a bot in this case) IP address so he/she/it keeps making multiple accounts and therefore able to spam multiple times.  hmm

Currently we're keeping track of the IP addresses of the spammer for IP trends to see if there's a way to block this spammer, as well as other methods that would help prevent bots from signing up onto the site.

It's very easy to change your IP adress in command prompt.

What about those little image things with words in them?

There are some really easy ones out there that show you a picture and a group of other pictures, and you have to pick the rotated one out of unrelated pictures.

What about schools though? Lots of classes get all the pupils to make an account, so having a maximum of 2 accounts would mean that couldn't happen anymore  hmm

You mean Captcha? One of the problems with Captcha is that can be sometimes hard to understand the images, even for some adult users who want to sign up on the Scratch website to use Scratch.

The Scratch Team is currently thinking about something similar similar to Captcha, but one that uses a different method of interaction and doesn't use images so it's easier to for people who want to sign up while making it harder to stump bots. (That's one of the "other methods that would help prevent bots from signing up onto the site" I was referring to earlier.  wink  )

Captcha can be annoying. On dot.tk it always shows a broken image for captcha and I can never use it  mad
