I realize that this is a kids site but really, this is nuts. the phrase "G.R.A.P.E. J.E.L.L.Y." is now deemed inappropriate for young children. Please update your filter, Scratch Team.

I'm guessing some idiot made up an obscene acronym and kept tagging stuff like this:
GRAPE JELLY [flag] [x]
[the censored thing it really stands for] [flag] [x]
and the Scratch Team banned the acronym.

I think Jelly is fine. The word "*" is on the filter, I believe. I'm not entirely sure why. So words that contain that word are banned.

no, if you type it in as a tag on a project, it will not show up

Right...the filter only applies to tags and comments in Scratch, not to postings on the Forum.
