Java

A few days ago, I downloaded the Java JDK.

I have a few questions I would like to have answered......

1. Is the Java JDK an actual program? Can you open up Java, and write code into it? Can you then "press the green flag?"

2. Do you need an additional program to go along with Java to write code?  Is there a program I need to download to use Java?

3. I heard there are different steps after scratch, to help you learn Java. Is Greenfoot the next step up? Is there another good program that you know of that can help learning Java?

Thanks for all of your responses!  smile

I think that if you have the jdk that you can use notepad

You can get a program like netbeans, eclipse, or notepad++. It's highly recommended.

I've used this book and loved it http://www.amazon.com/Sams-Teach-Yourse … amp;sr=8-1
