Handling Inappropriate Behavior

Hey guys and gals!

I notice a lot of people don't know how to handle inappropriate behavior on the scratch website and forums so I decided to put this together as kind of a "how to".

When you see someone doing something inappropriate, report them with a specific reason on why and move on. Feeding the trolls (or "talking back to them") doesn't help. In fact, don't even reply saying you reported.

Now, sometimes you don't know if a word or project is inappropriate or not. This is when you contact the scratch team and ask them or read the community guidelines to find out weather to report or not.

But don't abuse the system, moderators and admins like lightnin and paddle2see can see who reported comments and projects and can eventually ban you if you abuse it.

Hope you got something out of that!

Heh...

Once when I was new to scratch, I thought flagging comments was the same thing was deleting them.  lol

So I flagged all of the comments on a project.  yikes

Uh, oh! If that happens, you can always contact the scratch team and explain your mistake. They are usually pretty nice about these kinds of things.  big_smile

You can feed the trolls if you feed them arsenic.

Also known as counter trolling, or Troll VS Troll.

If you see ANYTHING BAD flag it. If you own the project, though you can remove the comment/tag/project by these methods, comments: hit the small X in the corner of the comment. tags: same as comments, also if you get too much trolling you can disable commenting+tagging. projects: go to the main area of your stuff where you can hit a check box and hit delete selected projects!  big_smile

That's where you're wrong, my boy.

Flagging is only for major stuff. If someone says that your project sucks, make a witty retort, wait for his rageface response and then delete the whole thing and make him even more rageface. This process is called "trolling". It's a totally new paradigm.

Actually, it's encouraged that Scratchers use the "flag as inappropriate" button for bad comment on your own projects as well. That deletes the comment while sending a message to the Scratch Team.  smile

Yeah, meanwhile it will not show the comment to that user, correct?

thats a good idea, I also recommend blocking comments if there is too much trolling/flaming  big_smile  I flag comments normally, but people have different approaches to situations so I can't tell how people might handle things. I dont see  many bad comments, there are silly ones but nothing bad!  big_smile  only work hard and have fun and things will be good for you.
