Slight typo there
Anyway, AoWC randomly "disabled" the server while I was in the middle of starting it up on 1.8 for the first time, and now no one can connect and I can't start the server (though I can manage the files).

Wow. Fail.

They failed hard. They deliberately ignored my instructions... >_<
Here's how the support ticket conversation went, from newest (top) to oldest (bottom); in it, you'll find my explanation and why they failed to actually read the thingy. (I haven't actually asked them to re-enable it yet, but the server did get disabled again even after I explained things to them.)

Yeah, the player limit was the issue. The problem is, one of the mods I have (a wrapper called SimpleServer that adds functionality and handles external connections) makes the player limit in the vanilla server.properties say 1024 so that its "bots" can invisibly join, do something and then leave, but its own player limit in simpleserver.properties will limit the amount of users coming in. This is causing the control panel to think there are more than 24 users allowed in at a time, so it disabled my server again. (By the way, you can find SimpleServer here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/309373-software-simpleserver-wrapper-834181/ )
So can you please somehow add an exception for us so that the control panel doesn't do this to my server? Thanks in advance for any help.

Why's my server disabled?

I was starting my server to test the new Bukkit build and the updated plugins, but all of a sudden I got disconnected, and the control panel says the server is "Disabled" and gives me no actions. What's up with this?

Well, they said they can't do anything about SimpleServer. So I'm asking the SimpleServer devs to put in an option for it.
BUT
The server is up RIGHT NOW in vanilla mode! A whole new world, with creative as the default! Go ahead and go on now!
(Oh, and by the way, Nex, the Remote Toolkit is still running.)

Can't you just save 1.9 somewhere else, then try force update?

Does it allow cracked players?

I'll be attempting to get SimpleServer to work myself, by grabbing the source code and recompiling it.

I've come to the conclusion that the cause of the problem on the server was that the source was from a dev build and was buggy. We'll just have to wait for an official release.
