Ability to do mesh world-wide without special software (Possible?)

As most people know, Minecraft uses Port 25565 and when you connect, it will try to connect with that port unless you specify one. Well, I configure my router to allow connections through port 25565 so people can get on my server.

Also, with Mesh in Scratch, you connect with IPs, but there is no word (AFAIK) of what port it is on. If we do ever find the port, we might be able to do global mesh without special software.

Has anyone thought of the possibility?

Or has someone already done it? I haven't seen it...

There's a wiki article with the code to communicate to Scratch via ActionScript and Python, I believe...

I mean connecting directly to another user's computer without third-party software. Find the port, we might be able to do it.

Re: Ability to do mesh world-wide without special software (Possible?)

Found the port! It's 42001!

It works, I tested it with someone, they connected through my real IP, and the broadcasting worked!

Domains don't work, is what the person said.

Yep, and I tested it with him  big_smile
Though the domain worked the second time I tried it for some reason...

Really crazy idea. Use my bingo Mesh game and play with tones of people or alternatively race people to the finish with my stickman with mesh game.

This is quite a good discovery.

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

Re: Ability to do mesh world-wide without special software (Possible?)

Port Forwarding?
You need to log onto your local IP (usually 192.168.1.1) and then add the password and stuff, then find the ports and hit
[ ] Enable Port Forwarding
.
Then save and get off!

Back in my day.... there were no laws that censored the internet... now, there are.... nah.

Re: Ability to do mesh world-wide without special software (Possible?)

What I found was you have to enter 192.168.1.1 into your web browsers url insert, but that sent me to my web blocks admin page (I have phantom technologies iBoss)... soo is that what I have to log into?  tongue

Re: Ability to do mesh world-wide without special software (Possible?)

If connecting through the default 192.168 IP doesn't work to get your router page, just use the method Windows made for you (for once)!  tongue

Go to Network -> Find the router (network infrastructure) -> Right click it -> View device webpage
