In terms of evolution, we are all related to each other, however some more than others. Diverse genetics found around the work mix well together to provide new, healthy combinations of genes. However, if two people are too closely related and have a child it ends up with very similar genes this causes mutations, usually bad ones that increase the chances of deformity and illness.

If I were the last person on earth I would probably come to terms with it. Species come and go all the time and our human society can't go on forever, it will collapse eventually and some other species will become dominant.

Well it means that I can either go mad and destroy loads of stuff as the insanity of solitary confinement kicks in or I can accept that I'm the last human and live out my life somewhere cushy knowing that, without opposable thumbs, cats, wolves, bears or whatever species become the top of the food chain can't possibly make as large a mess of this planet as we have.
