The miscellaneous forum

I have one question. Why aren't scratchers aloud to post in the miscellaneous forum? Aren't we all scratchers? It isn't right that all scratchers and all new scratchers have to be seperated! It's call predjudice people. Look it up.

They are trying to reduce spam and if you're new you might spam but if you're a scratcher then that means they trust you.

Yup! Some times people make Scratch accounts to spam us (a recent episode of commercial-spam comments on front page'd projects being an example). So if new accounts are restriced for a little while (including the 180-second rule) then it helps the ST and Moderators crack down and bann the commercial spammers.

Re: The miscellaneous forum

Replace "New Scratcher" with Untrusted Person and "Scratcher" with Trusted Person.

And then you suddenly realize you're voting to destroy the whole trust system.

Really? Prejudice?

It’s to reduce spam. New Scratcher’s aren’t used to these kinds of things yet, and don’t know what “too much” is.

It’s best to learn that early on so you don’t get to be “that person that everyone ignores in topics”

Besides, it’s not prejudice if it was chosen. The Scratch team made New Scratchers on purpose.

I also think this is more of a “you” problem than a “NEW SCRATCHERS RIOT” problem, because if you were a Scratcher, you probably wouldn’t have even made this topic.

Jees sorry! I didn't mean 2 make u upset! And FYI if this was happening and I WAS a scratcher, I would remember what it felt like to be new and I WOULD have made this topic! > tongue

Re: The miscellaneous forum

New Scratchers can't post in Miscellaneous because they [the New Scratchers] have to show that they are indeed users who are willing to be part of the Scratch community, not some troll or commercial spammer who is going to bomb-spam the place. If anything, it's rather unfair if New Scratchers are allowed to use the Miscellaneous forums if they contributed nothing to the Scratch community.

Think of it this way: if you want to be able to drive a car, you have to take a test for a driver's license to show that you're able to drive a car - if someone doesn't have a driver's license, then it isn't prejudiced at that if he/she is not allowed to drive a car, it's really for safety reasons. Likewise, if you want to post in Miscellaneous, you have to show that you're a member of the Scratch community by uploading projects, posting helpful responses in the forums, etc. - if someone is still a New Scratcher, then it isn't prejudiced at that if he/she is not allowed to post in Miscellaneous, it's because they have to earn the trust that they are, indeed, willing to be functional members of the Scratch community.
