How did this happen? PSP GAME FREEZES, BATTERY TAKEN OUT, SCREEN ON!

Alright...so I was playing LittleBigPlanet on my PSP and the game froze, which it is very prone to doing in create mode. So I'm like "ookay...I hope I didn't lose my level progress..." Then I look at my battery light. It's flashing as if it was low on battery, but about twice the speed. Yet it was charging. So I'm like...ooookay? So I decide I'll remove the battery instead of waiting for the PSP to shut off since I'd lose everything anyways. So, this is when I get kinda freaked out. I take out the battery, THE SCREEN IS STILL ON! I'm not joking, I don't know how screens work so I guess it could still be on, but I pulled out my battery and the screen was still on, all the image was still there, I could see it clear as any other time, bright, and the battery light was still on as well. Once again, I don't know how screens work but I thought you would need the battery in order for the screen to be on or else it couldn't display anything...any help?

I just checked and the level is still playable and is not corrupted and I didn't lose anything because before hand I switched to play mode so no changes occurred when I went back into edit mode. Could someone just explain this situation to me? I know most of the people here are pretty young, but if anyone has an explanation...WTC?!?!!

I'm just glad my work is still there, I've been working hard on it.

That's strange.

I don't think it actually requires the battery
it wouldn't be able to move though

I think that's how it works

Yes, I was very confused. I know it's not a dream since it's only 10:45 PM and it was like 10 minutes ago. Very confused.

Ah. I thought that might have been the case, but with most, it's only like an imprint, as in, like on the GBA if you turned it off for like a second you could see some black lines making the image of what was on the screen, but on here I could see everything full color and everything. And what's weirder is it didn't actually turn off until like 5 to 10 seconds later.

Agreed.

I agree too, but when I sold my DS, what other handheld will I use? I have an iPod Touch but that doesn't have any full fledged games on there. I mainly have PS1 games on my PSP. the only ones I have that are real PSP games are Killzone (sucks, from welcome back), LBP, and ModNation Racers which was also from welcome back. I had some others but sold them, the current ones are all downloaded. First party games and konami/capcom games are mainly the only ones worth playing.

Did you unplug it after you took the battery out?

Yawn.

There was probably some electricity still flowing through it...?

There's an electronic component; I think it's name starts with a C but I am blanking on it's name. I think it sort of saves some electricity somehow when it passes through. It's the reason that when you unplug a computer charger with a light the light stays on.

Other possibility is that it was still taking power from the wall.

Capacitor.  tongue

Yea, a capacitor could do this, but only for a few seconds. The only other possibility is that the PSP was still plugged in to the wall.
