Okay, guys. It's been awhile since I've posted in Collaborations, but here I am.
I have an idea for this really cool game. It would be a strategy type game where you have your own farmland. You plant, then water, and then harvest. If crop goes rotten you'll lose them. When you sell good crops, you get points.
It would be an overhead view, looking down at the farm. There are rows and columns of 'planting zones'.
So do you guys want to help?

Reason: You see, I have a lot of experience in building/tycoon games. So maybe I could help with quite a few things. If you visit modshare you can see TaxiTime Tycoon or my featured game SCDG 1.3 (when the site allows uploads I'll upload 1.4 with U-DRIVE-IT mode and tornado and fire disasters that are working just fine!) Do you need to hear more?

don't forget, you need more than just a simple farming game. You need management, and constant entertainment.
you see, my cinema game is alright at beginning, but once everything is built and it is all maxed out, that is it.
However, when you look at any city building games, you'll notice they last forever (until the space runs out) because the more houses, the more factors you pay attention to, and then you realise the more you fix the more problems you gain until you ahve an endless game.
So my point is, I'd also like to help on making sure the game lasts as long as possible, and also a proper farming game.
So i've got a question for you!
is this a true management/tycoon or just another clicky game where every 5 seconds you constantly checking something like watering grass and moving a farmer around on a map?
Because a true tycoon would have negotiations with traders, a way to get loans (simple banking), a way to upgrade machinary and classic top-down graphics instead of cheesy ones.
Of course I'd be willing to do any extras.

yay! shall i upload some interface blueprints, because they somehow give me inspiration and they may give some to you!
Also, are you a casual or a not-so casual player?
If Answer = casual then
set interface to simple but not very informative
ElseIf Answer = not-so-casul then
set interface to a lot more buttons and more proffesional instead of cheesy
EndIf

I'll accept if it's not too big. The collab I mean, since I prefer collabs with 2-5 people. If I join, I'll probably do programming.
Could there be different types of plants which you need to buy seeds for? And the aim is to earn as much money as possible by selling plants? And you could get better farming tools and more land.

Yeah, I only want 2-3 programmers and then 1 design person.
I don't like huge ones either.
Yeah, I'm thinking this will keep them occupied for a while.
Yes.
More land may be a problem, unless we start with a small area at first.
I'll work on a mockup right now!

Okay. Hopefully I'll be able to work on 2 collabs at once.
How about there are 12 types of normal plants and 3 rare ones (harder and more expensive to get but can be sold for a lot), and you start off with 2 or 3 seeds for some basic plant. You earn money from that plant until you can afford a new species. And maybe some plants need better farm areas which you need to pay for to grow?
We'll need to think of those 15 though. Any ideas?
12 normals, 3 rares.

Note that farm games get easily boring because of long waits.
On games like farmville, you can leave the program while it farms.
But on scratch, you need to keep the program on in order for it to farm, and if you close it, it loses your data.
Hope you find a way around this. If you do, I'll be glad to help program.

Corn, Bean, Strawberries, Carrots, Cauliflower, Eggplant, Garlic, Hot pepper, Lima bean, Onion....
I searched veggies.
Okay, so I'm thinking that there will be 3 stages in the game: plant, water, sell.
And then there will be a store where you can buy things (seeds, land, etc.)
Oh, and the rarer the seeds, the quicker they grow, which leaves you hurrying to get them to the next stage. Cause if they are left in one stage too long, they rot.

Well, with scratch, you couldn't do so. I don't think.
But with Panther, I think you could....

i'm sorry to say but i'm very busy with other things, and tbh this doesn't sound like my sorta game anyways. It did at first, but i'm sorta put off now so i'll be off. ciao. hope you find another programmer!

Is the mock-up done?
One question. Should this 'mockup' be semi-functional right?

All you can do is drag the seeds to the field.

I think we need to make a ordered list of things to do. This way we know what to update on our turns.

Hmm, I know that your pretty good, but we are tight on members, so could you possibly make a sample?
It will help us decide.

Oh, I have an idea. How about the field grid stays the same size. So we should make it bigger. But the thing is, you can't drop any seeds on some until you've bought more land.
