I'm a con man, yes, a con man is what I am.
I designed a begging trick with my friends, and played it at Orchard Road(where naive tourists often frequent).
Here's what to do.
First, I put a dusty cracked bowl in front of me, then hold a frantic Chinese conversation about how our father will kill us if we don't get enough money through begging. This does not happen in Singapore, but any chinese speaking tourists won't know that.
Next, we slip into English frequently enough for any old tourist to understand our "situation" and give us money.
Every time they tried to give us money, we smiled, explained the con, and gave it back. Then we made a mark in a notebook.
Afterwards, we counted that a real con man could have made about $50 per hour through this trick... for virtually no effort, and that's assuming you're as charismatic as battered twelve year olds.
Well, if my craving for a mobile phone gets too big, I know what to do... I think Geylang would be a good spot to go to as well... and it's near my house, I can bike there in like ten minutes. Orchard Road requires me to take the MRT(read:train) and is more troublesome...
