Re: Oh My God This Is Super Freaking Important! Virusseeesssss!

steps to get rid of viruses!
1.) locate the viruses origin and type
2.) isolate the virus yes it is possible. it often works through a folder or a program (normally the program of origin)
3.) Use CCleaner often
4.) delete the program of origin
5.) if needed clean install

Re: Oh My God This Is Super Freaking Important! Virusseeesssss!

Rouge antivirus, maybe? Those pesky ads will sometimes download themselves. You have to either get AdBlock, use Avast WebRep or the WOT Add-on to steer clear from those bad links in search results (SEO has been a big threat). Also, type carefully. Mispelling GOOGLE (GOGGLE instead of GOOGLE) used to ruin your PC (look on YouTube), but the same will happen when you type YOUTUB or YOUTUBR. Also, get a good AV (it will sorta help) and get MalwareBytes. MalwareBytes is like, the only AV so far that can get rid of rogues.

I have to agree with hmnwilson. All viruses can be removed in some way (other than a clean install). The problem most of the time is that once the virus is gone, the system may be seriously screwed from the damage the virus caused.

Still, I have Chrome with AdBlock and NotScripts (yes, it is NotScripts), so I am safe from this "unremovable" virus.  roll

Perfect!

P.S. Good luck with fdisk.

Read the red part.

Also, you are overreacting. There are tons of new viruses on the internet everyday. Alot of those are probably just as "unremovable" as this one, but I don't see anyone crying over every single new virus.

Re: Oh My God This Is Super Freaking Important! Virusseeesssss!

Well, here's a good guide that I made that clarifies what bbbeb was stating. Keeping your computer from viruses it a lot more than getting AdBlock. I mean it.

How to Stay Safe on Your Computer
*Steer clear from torrent sites. Torrent sites are (sorta) like Megaupload and Mediafire where you don't really know where the file comes from. 41% of the stuff on torrent sites contains harmful stuff. Of course, that's a small portion, but you have to be careful.
*Don't download leading software from "official" websites. Even when you think the site is official, it might be a spoof or typosquatted. Even when it IS the official website, viruses could still penetrate through it. Download things from Download.com where the people actually TEST the downloads to make sure there's no spyware. Also, the site is waay more secure.
*Use caution. Even Download.com has some pesky viruses that somehow make it's way as a "download" and gets onto your PC. Use common sense, and ALWAYS ALWAYS read the reviews before downloading.
*Get a good AV software. Most antivirus software automatically blocks viruses and have real-time shields (usually those aren't free). Here are some free ones I recommend:
Avast 6.0 Free Edition (you need to get a free registration code on their site, avast.com)
AVG Free (DON'T include LinkScanner or the AVG Toolbar in the installation, that will slow down everything)
Avira AntiVir (get it from Download.com, there's a fake version of it. Same with AVG)
MalwareBytes (a MUST have. It blocks stuff that Avast, AVG, and all the other AVs can't. When I first got Avast, it said that I had no viruses, but then I downloaded MalwareBytes and it detected 11 viruses. Big difference.)
*Be careful of Rogue AV. Rogue AV is FAKE antivirus software that is disguised as a virus. We don't know who would do that, but it's been a big threat and gets you to download it via ads, pop-ups, and fake Windows notifications stating that you need AV. (Things like the fake Security Center have been sort of hard to dodge though.) Luckily, MalwareBytes removes most of these Rogue AVs, but that doesn't mean you're entirely safe.
*Get helpful add-ons. AdBlock for Google Chrome and Firefox is GREAT, though it doesn't block everything. However, on Chrome you can right-click an ad that it did not block and select "Block element." Also, get a good pop-up blocker and a good internet browser. (IE is the most insecure browser, even with the "SmartScreen filter" and stuff it claims to have. Get Chrome or Firefox.) For things like link scanners, see the next bullet-point.
*Use a link scanner. Link scanners, well, scan links ( tongue ) so that you won't click on something unsafe when Google searching. (Usually they will also be somewhere near the bookmarks bar on your browser so you can see the safety rating of the website.) I personally recommend the Avast WebRep add-on (which is free and comes with Avast), the WOT add-on (for Firefox and Chrome, also free), and McAfee SiteAdvisor (which costs money but is available in a trail version [?]). AVOID the AVG LinkScanner add-on, it's useless and doesn't do anything. (I've tested it on sites that have viruses on them and the tool said they were safe! =O). Also avoid the Alexa Ranking thing, it's considered adware and merely displays how popular the site it, not how safe it is.
*Don't use P2P software, IM, or things like that. Chatrooms, etc. Not good.

That's it, pretty much.
