Let New people come on to stuff that's not on scratch!!!

Well, the point is that you can't really trust New Scratchers the moment they come on. You'll be promoted to Scratcher soon enough.

Also, I remember there's another reason for that.

You mean posting links?
If you keep using the forums and main site you'll be a Scratcher soon. (I was told the same thing a couple months ago. )

New Scratchers unfortunately have to wait a little while before gaining full forum privileges to reduce the damage done by spammers and trolls. It's a case of a the bad apples ruining it for everyone, but otherwise there would be a lot more for the mods to clean up. Just be patient and stay active (both on the main site and the forums) and you'll be a Scratcher soon enough.
Edit: Oh shoot, I didn't even check the date. Confound these necroposters. >_<

The necroposter was a fairly new user, maybe he/she didn't know where to post? Anyways, I moved the necropost over to the "Introduce Yourself" thread. Eh, I suppose the post is still rather relevant considering the rules we have in place for New Scratchers. Not that much harm done.

Eh, I know. I just get frustrated when I post a response to a thread without realizing that it's an old one that got bumped, especially when it's a question that's already been answered elsewhere.

I've been in scratch for, like, A YEAR! So I wanna be a Scratcher. Whatever I'm out of here and closing my account.

Well, you can't be upgraded to Scratcher since you have no projects. Only people who are active on the site and the forums can become Scratchers.
Oh well, closing your account and leaving the Scratch community is your choice. You can ask to have your account deleted here.

Ummm... a New Scratcher has a signature. How does that happen?
When the Scratch Team first made the New Scratcher status, any New Scratchers that already had a signature were allowed to keep it. So there are a few around.
