What's the point? So you're probably getting too easy homework.
:/No, I just can do the math.
But it's supposed to challenge you. You aren't supposed to easily be able to do it.

I can't easily do it. I just write out the math. My teacher gets really angry if we do it on a calculator. We have to show every step of our work.

Well, you are not a bad kid if you use a calculator, you would just be cheating yourself.
Wait, I didn't read the first post. I do use a calculator, but my teacher let's me use it. Maybe it's because I'm learning hard and confusing math.

A teacher that permits calculators is a teacher that doesn't care about their students.

false
I sometimes have to use calculators for finding the square root of something, because things that aren't perfect squares are irrational.
"the method for finding the square root of something is brutal."

.P.S. I'm in Y4
Nope... I'm my own calculator
However, my teacher does let us use calculators for checking our work and for simple math (ie: If we've doing homework so long our brains can't even compute 2x2, she'll cut us some slack)
Speaking of math homework, I have some to do. BRB

The person next to me in maths got out her calculator because she was a bit confused - I'm in Y7 and we were multiplying negative numbers.

I wouldn't go that far.
In middle school and high school, teachers often permit calculators because what we are learning goes far beyond knowing how to multiply and whatnot. Say have a have a work sheet on integration (a calculus concept). I would not be allowed to use a calculator to integrate for me (some graphing calculators can), but I could use it to multiply and divide some of the numbers that it takes to find the answer because our teacher knows we know arithmetic, but is helping us learn calculus. So when I say I don't cheat and use a calculator, I mean I don't use a calculator when it's considered cheating. Often though, our tests are non-calculator, but don't involve too much time-consuming arithmetic.

That's the way of using a calculator correctly.
Or for calculating a problem that's not even homework.
Or for playing games

Nope.
But nowadays I am allowed to use calculators anyway
