People commenting "copier!" on projects

Is this right, that if I remix someone else's project that I'm unoriginal and can't think of anything for myselft, or is this just common ignorance?

Sometimes when I fix things for other people I will get comments calling me a copier etc, it seems a bit weird for a community where we can remix other's projects yet even though we're allowed to people think it's wrong and we shouldn't do it.

Finding an error on a project and fixing it can be called a remix. It's allowed.

A lot of times some users don't notice the changes between a remix project and the original if the change is only in the scripting - that's probably what's happening in your case. If you haven't done so already, you'll want to state in the project notes what part of the project you changed. If someone is continually harassing you, make use of the Ignore List function and contact the Scratch Team.

I've listed every change, said I fixed it, even put it in the game. People are being ignorant and it annoys me, it kinda ruins scratch.

The Scratch Team doesn't like those incidents either and find them annoying, too. ^^ After all, one of the main ideas behind the site is remixing!  smile

It's also likely you might be dealing with a case of where people aren't aware of remixing policies on Scratch or still see remixes as copies anyway regardless of whatever changes have been made to it - in those cases a notification about how remixing is a good thing needs to be sent to the accuser(s).

You can contact the Scratch Team here about the problem.  wink

Re: People commenting "copier!" on projects

Although Scratch encourages remixes, people might also put on their project notes or in comments that they wouldn't like remixing because they are still working on it, or for some other reason, e.g. I'm entering it in a contents, and I don't want remixes yet. That's fine, as long as people be polite and wait until the project is fully finished to remix. If you remix to make it better, as cheddargirl said, it's only clever to say in your project notes what and why you fixed it!  smile

I have no problem with that, but this guy made one which he wanted people to fix, it was even named "fix please"

Well then the best thing to do is report that comment.
