A little while back I was fortunate enough to have my project 'Mechanism' featured. Not to brag but people generally had a good time :) Although I came across some comments such as 'finally a good featured project' and such. I also found some comments on other featured projects such as 'good but doesn't deserve featured' etc.
I really do like the 'Featured Projects' section on the front page and understand that it shows different ways to use Scratch and shows how culturally diverse the Scratch community is. This is all well and good but I don't feel everybody understands this. Some think 'Featured' must mean it's really impressive with great scripting etc.
I was just thinking that with the front page having top-loved, top-remixed, scratch design studio, top viewed, featured etc. that for the sake of the people looking for impressive projects, there could perhaps be an 'Impressive Projects' section.
This would be the same layout and setup as the other sections with the three most recent 'Impressive' projects. It could be selected by the Scratch Team similarly to the 'Featured Projects'. This is just a suggestion and I fully understand if the Scratch Team doesn't wish to implement this. Scratch on :)

Well, if it is so close to being the Featured Projects slot(in my opinion, almost the same) then just make another row for them on the front page.
Featured projects have some kind of quality that makes them good.

I agree but back to my point that not everybody feels that they are good ENOUGH. There can be a massive contrast between a good project that is featured and a project with 100-odd scripts that goes above and beyond expectations.

How would you know that these projects with 100-something scripts would be good? There is already enough trouble in moderating projects and choosing featured ones.

I wasn't saying they would all have 100-something scripts. It was an example. The projects would be good because that is the point; impressive projects. There is an extent when what one considers 'good' can be considered more opinion than fact so I'm not saying they would please everyone but it is quite clear that some people do want to experience highly-polished projects rather than projects that are good but selected more because of current affairs or for the sake of variety.
