One of my students keeps opening Scratch with all the fields blank ... reinstalled, no change, removed an mit.scratch...plist and restarted - no change. Can't find any other reference to the problem in the forum. Suggestions.
MacBook Core Duo running 10.4.11 with the latest Scratch v. 1.3.1 !!!
Rest of class is fine.
Move 10 steps is move ___ steps and won't allow anything to be entered. Even sample program run with no values in the fields and eventually crash. NONE of the fields have any values in them, text or numbers...
Thanks,
Dave S.
[blocks]http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/post.php?fid=9#req_message[/blocks] has a line in the place of the value bubble...

But this happens when the program is first opened up and NO blocks have been moved into the scripting area. All blocks have blank underlines instead of white text boxes with values or text in them. She can't even start to program ... and reinstalling Scratch doesn't solve it.
Open to possible solutions ....

Anything interesting about the set of fonts installed on the problem machine? Many more/less than usual? Strange foriegn language fonts? Anything like that?

I am beginning to suspect that it may be a font problem - some webpages do seem to be missing letters. Will have to check to see if that is the problem. Can anyone tell me what the default font is for Scratch?
Thanks,
Dave

Yeah, I don't really know if there is a default...it works with the set of fonts installed on the computer. I'd take a look at a machine that is working and see if the same fonts are present on the problem machine.
