Inspitarion

What intrigues me is where people get the inspiration to design scratch games?
How do you develop the topics, concepts and themes behind these games?

I suppose that this is an identical question to why and how book and movie script writers get their ideas from?

Re: Inspitarion

My inspiration comes from other projects, other flash games or from my own mind. And from that idea I'm starting to develop the game, adding along the way other ideas.

Sorry, if my english was bad.

Re: Inspitarion

I just played Logic Box, and it was very good.
Very simple concept but a solid game.
The aspect of scratch that I love is the addictability (is that even a word?).  Logic Box is challenging enough that you can succeed, yet not too easy that you will finish in 10 minutes.

Thank you. And yea Scratch is kinda addicting. I will never get bored making projects.

Re: Inspitarion

I usually use symbolism.

For instance, I’m making a game about a guy named Enentine. He is a stickman with a large square head. It looks kind of like a yin yang because his head is split diagonally, one side is white, the other black, and the eye on the white side is black, and the eye on the black side is white. He wears a monocle on his eye on the white side, and he has a tilted tophat that floats above his head. Long story short, he’s in my signature, you can look at him there.  lol

Well anyways, heres the symbolism:

Name: His name is Enentine, which is an anagram of the word “Nineteen” which happens to be my favorite number.

Top hat: I have always enjoyed top hats, and I to magic tricks as a hobby, and most (good) magicians wear fancy clothes. (ie: top hat)

Monocle: It goes with the top hat, and there’s a thief on the show “Case Closed” or “Detective Conan”, and he wears a monocle, because he’s cool.

Square head: It’s easier to draw on paper, and on Scratch, and it makes him different from most other stickmen.

Split head: The reason his head is split diagonally is because when I was in fourth grade (I’m in seventh now, so about three years ago) my teacher called me Splitz. I’m not sure why, though.

Yin Yang eye setup: On the show “Psych” there was a genius antagonist that lasted three seasons named “The Yin Yang Serial Killer”. And I’ve always loved the yin yang symbol, because it goes with Splitz.

It’s easy, because it relates to my personal life, but you never would have guessed. I do this with most all of my projects.
I am interested as to how other Scratchers think up their ideas.
