Remix etiquette

I remixed a project today without asking the creator, and the person sent me a comment telling me to ask permission first.

Is it the same for most people?

I like to play around with people's projects.  I'm not trying to take credit for them.  Actually, I do it to partly to amuse the creator or to give props.

I'm pretty new here.  Is there an etiquette to be followed for remixing?

Thanks!

Re: Remix etiquette

The Terms of Use for the site say:

"Feel free to make modified versions of other people's projects - just make sure to give them credit. One place to give credit is in your Project Notes."

So you have every right to remix to your heart's desire as long as you give credit.  There are some users of the site who would like it otherwise and feel that they should have control over who remixes their work.  However, that is not how the site is currently configured.

Re: Remix etiquette

Oh, okay.  Thanks for the prompt response.

Well I'll try to be respectful of the people who don't like it.
