Why would you want to downgrade to XP from Windows 7? Windows 7 is awesome, and XP's horrible.
Windows 7 can do the fill-right/left-half-of-screen, while Vista can't. The quicklaunch buttons on Windows 7 are more significant, and can be merged with the open windows. Basically, Win7 is all-out better. There are more things. Oh, and Win7 has better security.
Check this search here on Amazon.

Vista is not that bad I've been using it for three years now an nothing gone wrong (touch wood) no virus', still as fast as it always was and the only time it ever blue screens is when I'm testing my own software. Windows 7 is like Vista with a fancy taskbar and it is a bit more refined.
I have a computer with XP but I can't register it as it won't connect to the net (I have Ubuntu on it and that connects to the net fine) does MS still let you register it on the net?

Not really sure about registration. Do you mean you can't connect to the internet? On all the XP installs I've done recently, I haven't had to register or validate my copy of XP in any way. That may have been because I was using the install disk that came with the computer though.
I can't really understand why you would want to go back to XP though, unless you were getting poor performance on your computer. You can make Windows 7 UI look a lot like XP with some tweaks, and you get more features.
