I don't know if you get this in the US but we often get wierd phonecalls.
Apparently they are working with Microsoft. They all have indian accents and always start off with
"Hello my name is -- and I am calling about your Windows computer."
The first time, I did what he said and he made me open the registry log thing. Then he tried to sell me some software so after asking my parents, I refused.
Then, a few months later, they rang again! We refused again.
BTW: They all talk with Indian accents
The last time, quite recently, they called, and I was on my computer. But I have a mac! So I promptly told him "I have a Mac." So he just apologised and hung up. A perk from having a mac.
Apparently, someone I know has also had a call from those guys, and when she said that she has a Mac, the guy transferred the call to the manager. The manager also had a Indian accent and she was really angry and was going like "No! You no have Mac! You lying! You have windows!"

"Do you see the b key?"
"No"
"Are you sure you have a standard US keyboard?"
"No"
"Do you have a Windows?"
"I'm not sure"

This is how I would do it...
Scammer: "Hello, I would like to inform you, you have a virus on your Windows."
Me: "Orly? One of you who called yesterday said that."
Scammer: "Well, you must have another virus. Please go to your computer."
Me: "What's a computer?"
Scammer: "The Windows."
Me: "Lolwut?"

My dad once got one of them and he decided to waste there time:
Person: Hello, my name is -, and we have discovered you have a problem with your computer.
Dad: Which one?
Person: The one running XP.
Dad: But all of them are (none of them actually are :P)
Person: Oh, well it must be the one you were using at 2PM.
Dad: Ah yes, that one (he wasn't using any at 2PM), what about it?
Person: You appear to have got an internet viru-
Dad: I don't use the internet on that one.
Person: Hmm, well it must be the computer you bought first.
Dad: But I bought my first computer in 1983!
Person: Then it must be that one.
Dad: But I threw it away in 1996.
Person: *hangs up*

I get them loads of times. Usually about Electric or Gas deals. I just pick up the phone and don't speak, while listening to them struggle going "Hello?... Hellooo?" for about 2 mins >:3

My parents get a lot of British gas callers so once I called my parents pretending to be British Gas for a whole minute before they realized

For those type of calls however you wait a few seconds before they start speaking to you. But so do normal people. So the Sad thing is I get so used to those calls that I put the phone down on real people ;_;

When I was younger I prank called a guy and said "Is this Chex Mix?" I was going to ask if he had any, but it came out wrong. Then I said "I got your number ol' pal! It's me! Pepperidge Farms!" Then I got my brother and my friends all code names (General Mills, Eggo, Pop-Tart, Frito-lay, etc. etc.) and we still chat with Chex Mix today. We don't know each other's names but we assume he is between the ages 16 and 21.
