Need For Speed Official Topic

Talk about Need For Speed here!

My ratings/reviews
Most Wanted (PC): A great game with intertwined storyline. Very similar to Carbon. Intense chases, good music, and great racing.
Carbon (GCube): Great just like MW. Taking over territory is really fun, and you can get some pretty cool cars.
Hot Pursuit (iPod/Phone, own it): Good port from console. Not very many levels or event types, though, but there is amazing graphics for an IOS game.
Hot Pursuit (PC, own it): Great game, lets you play as cops or racers, and has races as well as chases. Graphics are pretty good, but it doesn't have as much of a NFS feel as the iPod version, downsides are no cop chases in free roam and only 1 save file (any help?), plus the music swears and isn't very good.

Re: Need For Speed Official Topic

I love all of the NFS games except Prostreet.

(I have played every one except, I, II, Underground 2, Nitro, and Shift 2. When there are 12 total NFS games, 7 out of 12 isn't bad.)

I'd rather play Nitro than Shift. I hated Shift.

Re: Need For Speed Official Topic

I own the first one. Well, I used to. Now I have the 3rd one for PC and PS1, Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon (horrible), and the tablet Hot Pursuit.

NFS III and Most Wanted will always be the best NFS games. Nitro was actually pretty good, the new Hot Pursuit is great, and I can't wait to get a copy of The Run.

Something tells me I won't get a very objective opinion if I ask if I should get Hot Pursuit or Shift 1/2...  tongue

World. Hackers, Bots, Bugs. I still play it.

And Nitro is awesome. Graphics? Half the games pre-2000 have bad graphics but have a HUGE fanbase and are awesome. Arcade Mode? Whats wrong with that? HP has it, too. In HP, the cars (even the best handling in real life) Handle like a boat. In Nitro, You can drift through ALL the corners. Now thats pretty awesome. I like it. Nuff said.

HOT PURSUIIIIT

No, really, though. It depends.

Shift has a lot better graphics, but it's all racing on racetracks. Hot Pursuit has a few races, but focuses on offroad chases as cops or racers.

@blazer how is carbon horrible? It's a clone of MW for console...

I guess Nitro is OK, it's just the total opposite of my favorite, Most Wanted.

Re: Need For Speed Official Topic

I have Hot Pursuit 2, Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon, and Shift. I love them all but my favorites are Underground 2 and Most Wanted.

I'm really excited about The Run coming out in November, a "high stakes" race across the country from San Francisco to New York. From what I've heard it sounds like the best NFS ever.

The only NFS I would probably never buy is Nitro, I just don't like how its set up and how all the cars look like they belong in a Pixar movie. I feel like EA just spit it out so they would have an NFS to sell to Wii users. That is just my opinion thought, if you like it good for you.

Re: Need For Speed Official Topic

@SeptimusHeap: After playing Most Wanted for such a long time, I was originally excited to go back to Palamont(?) for Carbon. Cops were going to be there, the Canyon Races looked awesome, and I was itching for a new NFS anyway. I got it eventually, and booted it up. Little did I know that I was going to be immensely disappointed. The cops in that game mean little or nothing, they were just there. There was never any plot point (that I can remember) that had anything to do with them. I was able to go through my entire career without them. The Canyon Races are just RAGE beyond belief. Took me about 3 hours to beat the final one. The redesigned Palamont was for the worse. It seems to me they tried to make it more "Most Wanted"-y than it originally was.

It wasn't a clone. It was more of a rip-off of MW, with less quality game play and plot. The only good part was the Firetruck in multi-player.

I don't understand the dislike toward Nitro. It was much more arcade-y than other NFS titles, but it was still really fun. That being said, I only own it for my DSi.

@Harakou: Shift, I think, is a more simulation type racer, while Hot Pursuit is the same arcade game you know. Depends on what type of racing game you want. If you do get Shift, I heard the 2nd one is vastly improved over the 1st.

Ikr? The first time I tried it, it took me hours to finally beat that last canyon race as well. Since then though I've figured out that the best way to beat it without the mass frustration is to buy a Z06 and tune it to get as much acceleration as possible. Then when the race starts you should pull ahead of the other car within a few seconds, then just brake right in front of him holding him behind you, and then just wait for the timer to run out, lol.

Actually, I think I had a muscle car. And muscle cars in that game handle pretty horrid. Or maybe I went the route of the Corvette again. In any case, I beat it how your supposed to. Racing down that horrid course.

The reason muscle cars handled so bad in the game is because muscle cars handle badly in real life.  tongue

But yea the reason for using a Z06 is because it is the fastest accelerating car on Carbon and the only car that could get ahead of Darius's R8 at the very beginning of the race.

I know they handle horrid in real life. I got real good at controlling of them however, usually by drifting. Now that I think back on it, the Viper was my car of choice.

Still, the Z06 in MW is the only car I have gotten to 250 MPH before (254 to be exact).
