The only games coming out at the moment is Mario or Pokemon! Frustrates me when people call the scratchers original when they're clearly not, they're just getting popularity from what developers in mid-eighties spent months creating! Its either them, or random projects like LOL and other ones. I seriously think the team should start picking out projects that are not one of the five catagories: Simulation, game, music, story, or art! (Animation should be part of either one of those five, otherwise they might as well not bother) Who agrees?
Also, going back to the Mario/Pokemon topic, who agrees that we need more original characters?

Yeah, I've kinda noticed that too. I'm not a big fan of Mario, and I've never even seen Pokemon.

even so, there's still mario and a fair few other copies. I will admit I'm making a rayman game, but the idea is for it to be a NEW game, not based on a specific one (like mario karts or super galaxy or paper mario)

I disagree. I had to say this to someone else. "People look at what they like. That's what makes them famous." You see, fame is just what other people make. How did TV get popular? because people liked it and then it became famous.

doesn't mean it has to be copied and every little bit duplicated a billion times, it would be nice for scratchers to have some imagination for a change (for those who do this, i know there's a lot who don't do this and have a lot of imagination instead)

if you're looking for an original character:

I agree with the original characters thing.

Well, I think you have to remember that many of these projects may be from newer users just getting the hang of platformers. I understand that seeing the same type of game many of times can be frustrating, but often the most creative ones rise to the top anyway. Not everyone can think of something totally original.

i suppose. maybe a large part of the community should get together and create an ultimate character with ultimate plot, and assign someone to program it and a few to make sprites and animations for it rather then these little random ones on collab which don't seem to get anywhere. I'd love to be the leader of it and show off my talents, for some reason people don't trust my skills quality, even after making: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Borrego6165/2022761 and borregoworld.yolasite.com/scdg.php

They’re not real.

I think PiH knows that; he meant that's he hasn't seen any Pokemon projects.![]()
No, I mean all the Pokemon games and stuff that everyone seems to be talking about.
I've seems some Pokemon projects, but not as many as Mario.

Well, adding on to my subject, people learn by copying what they like.

Then it would get boring because nobody has any creative projects and if they did, it wouldn't get front-paged because everybody makes stuff about that guy.

is this original? http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=74543 Or has it been done already on scratch?
