Yeah... exactly 10 years after one of the biggest acts of terrorism in history. It's not a comforting thought.

Yeah, I know.
This morning my 3 year old sister said "It's a sad day today." She doesn't even know that it's 9/11! (And I thought it was tomorrow for some reason...)

I didn't realise until I looked at the date. It's actually 11/9 here in the UK.

American dates. The attack was in New York.
My mom got off the subway into Manhattan at 8:47 on 9/11/2001, and didn't look up. She didn't know at first. A few minutes later she did though. She was just telling me about it.
There were kids in my 3 year old class whose parents worked at the World Trade Center, but they were late for work that day. I didn't know anything for a few years.
I'm pretty sure the date has meaning: 911.

When Osama Bin Laden was killed, the US seals raided his compound and found documents about Al Qaeda bombing the trains in New York on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. The US then decided to take many precautions to ensure this never happens. Plus, who in their right mind wouldn't severly up their security on the worst terrorist attrocity this planet has seen? And also, if the US now know about Al Qaeda's old plans for the 10th Anniversary, then why would they carry out the attack knowing the US is one step ahead?
I think, personally, that today will be peaceful and safe, but anything can happen, unfortunately...

I always wondered why they didn't write it 11/9
It was the 11th of the ninth month.

Scary. But I thought that a better time for terrorists was when that's NOT what people are thinking about, or possibly, expecting.

The government are more prepared for it today than they were 10 years ago. If it's coming at all, then they know it.

Actually, they say that wasn't the case.

I think that Al Qaeda doesn't stand a chance at doing much of anything today. Those hard drives that were captured at the bin Laden compound probably have the names of the members of Al Qaeda, and the US government is probably watching their every move.
But yes, no matter if AQ does anything today or not, it is a very sad day.

So? What's the big deal? It's not like it's the actual one.

I heard that they were actually planning to attack today.
Whose 'they'? America discriminates unbelievably against Muslims just because Bin Laden was one. The Middle East is friendler now. Bin Laden and his fellow terrorists are dead.

That wasn't really what I meant.
