...No man.
No.
PEOPLE DIED.
That's not epic.
That's sadistic.
Why would you even say that.

Regarding what's happening here in this thread:
In the realm of the internet where many people from many different cultures, ages, and backgrounds exists, it can be hard for some to understand the magnitude of something as tragic like 9/11.
Sometimes it's a good thing to discuss feelings triggered by the event and the events themselves, but be aware that some people are more sensitive to 9/11 others. On a personal level of having gone through the 9/11 event myself (I was in a school whose window offered a partial view of the NYC skyline and direct view of the World Trade Center), thinking back to this event isn't always easy and so it makes me cringe [and perhaps angry] when people take light of what happened on 9/11. I'd imagine it is harder for my friends and classmates who lost family members on that day. So for those who have not been majorly affected by 9/11 - I'd like for you to think before you post. Around 3000 victims died on that day, and thousands more have been traumatized, so be mindful about what you say in here.
Also, please do not forget that this isn't the best place to stir up political debate (so stuff like blaming the president or post 9/11 government decision, etc. is better left for the handful of offsite debate forums floating around on the World Wide Web).
Thanks, and Scratch On.

No, really.
It's strange though
on that exact day my mom was reconciling with my dad after they split up the first time and in the exact moments when my mom and my dad were in a car together for the first time in a year...
then they split up 5 years later but that's beside the point
large spaces in posts mess me up D:

Mnn, I remember a lot of things about that day.
Probably the one thing that sticks out of my mind was how my father was trying to take me home early from school that day - I told him I wanted to stay in school and he thought I was being unreasonably studious; I actually wanted to stay to because I knew my school cafeteria was designed as a makeshift bomb shelter.

Man, that must have been horrible! Me and my dad saw it, but from the roof of our apartment building, and I don't remember because I was only 3.

Well since a lot of other people have posted the things they remember about the actual day: I remember it as only one of two times I've seen my dad cry.
1) 9/11
2) My grandpa's funeral service
It's hard for us to see how traumatizing this event was if we were too young to remember it...it's stuff like my dad crying that makes me go, "Wow...this is real...and terrible."

I wanted to post this today, because I didn't want it to be just one of the many topics posted about it.
Many people remember 9/11 with mainly 2 emotions: sadness and anger. Where we are justified in both, our actions and thoughts following them have not been honorable. It is true that we should be sad for the lives lost that day, but we must also look forward, seeing how this was done to tear down America, and all it has done is strengthen us. Anger is also justified, in that it was murder and it should not go unforgiven. However, we have taken our anger too far.
Today, many Americans think of Muslims as all being radical, wishing the death of America. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Most Muslims do not support the actions that were taken on that day, but we stereotype them so it looks as though they do. I watched a video the other day about a Muslim woman who remembers her 9/11 experience. She said when she heard the radio announcing the horrific event, she thought, "God, please let it not be Muslims." 9/11 may have made life difficult for Americans, but it has made it much more difficult for Muslims living in America. They are often picked out at airport security, sometimes disrespected in public and ultimately looked down upon.
I would encourage you all to remember this on 9/11. Thank you.
i agree....don't forget, but move on
know that sounds kind of heartless, but what is done is done. you're only going to spread more hatred by telling this to every little kid "YEAH THE MUSLIMS DID THIS"
plus, it's just making the US self centered and thinking they're better than the other countries
which isn't true by the way

i think i'm a bad person though
like, i don't try to be this way, but i've never really felt any sadness for 9/11
i felt bad for the bombings of germany during WW2
and how the Russians were invaded
And the starving children in Haiti
Hiroshima was horrible
but as far as 9/11...i don't know man. i wish i could relate and stuff, but i can't. so yeah, i hope they're aren't people like me out there but if they say something kinda insensitive like i might accidentally, chill. i bet they didn't mean it.
(actually like 2 years ago i made a joke about 9/11 which didn't go over well with the cheddar. sorry :T )

Have you read the stories or know what happened? Because once you do, you will probably feel sorry.

May all the lost loved ones rest in peace.
I've heard a lot of conspiracy theories, but no matter how it happened, many people lost their lives.
But when they were doing the remembrance thing in school, and there was a lot of schoolwork that day, I wasn't really thrilled, although I do respect the people who passed away, their families, and all the other people who helped clean up the mess.

I still remember that comment. It, unfortunately, still hurts.
I'd imagine that, when it comes to topics that we don't know much about or do not have any interest in, it's best to refrain from posting in it at all. So if you think you'll make an insensitive comment, then it might be a good idea to avoid the thread altogether (and, I guess, in your case, maybe get some help to provide a better understanding of how tragic the event in since the terribleness of 9/11 is probably be just as bad as the events you enumerated earlier).

Yeah, I remember that day very well. I couldn't really wrap my head around the idea that somebody could use planes full of civilians as missiles. What an incredibly evil and heartless thing to do. And what were they hoping to accomplish? Ten years later and I still can't tell you for sure what the point of the attack was.
I remember thinking that somebody must be really angry with America - and that a whole lot of people were going to die as a result of this action. A prediction that, very sadly, has come true from the resulting military responses as well as the continued toxic effects of the cleanup efforts at the 9-11 attack sites.

I was about to fly to Florida a few days after. I was unable.
It is a sad and terrible that happened. Since that day we all have improved as a country with more safety, and more trust in each other.
God Bless all who died on that tragic day.

Oh, 9/11. D: I wasn't even 6 months old when it happened, so I don't recall it. But the pictures on my homepage are pretty tragic. My dad friend died in the second tower, but he saved alot of people. ;A;
God bless America.

A terrible event happened on that day and we should all remember the victims and the people who risked and in some cases gave their lives for other people. R.I.P
