Like the topic says, the linux version has a bunch of bugs. First of all, where it shows the sprites beneath the screen and place where you see the sprites' costumes don't have anything, literally! If my screen saver has blue polka dots, you can see through the things I just listed!
Second of all, I can't view the larger screen. The computer plays the little beep sound and I can't view it, which means my projects end up having little things wrong with them I had no idea about.
Last, the effects (color, ghost, fisheye, etc.) wont work. The computer again plays the beep sound. :

I am right now using Linux. I haven't installed Scratch on it yet but I have looked at the page and I quote from it:

The Scratch Team has been working with others and we have compiled our very first version of a Debian/Ubuntu installer. It is sill experimental and you should use treat it as such.

Don't use the DEB version, the presentation mode doesn't work there. Try the "normal version".
Well, the sound is still not working, but it worked on ubuntu 7.10 (i have 8.10). I think it's my computer's fault cause I can't hear sounds on wine too.
Linux users have lots of problems with programs. I still dunno why I'm not using the most popular OS in the world... Wait a minute! I use it, just because some programs don't work properly on Linux.
Wonder how did you make the Mac version... Well, I'm not good at programming, Scratch works slower, but looks better on Wine.
When you see two files called Scratch Plugin and Unicode Plugin next to runscratch.sh, it means that you can use the presentation mode and play with the effects without hearing any beep sounds.
Unfortunately, I LOVE music and Linux Scratch doesn't want to play music.
