Built In Server

Ok, I'm really getting tired of Mesh, and hamachi.
Scratch should really look into making a Built In Server.
Scratch would have it's own category of blocks called Server.
One of the blocks would be sort of a database or something.
Some block suggestions:

Database.
Username=[Rank]
Rank list
username create
password create

Example:
<when green flag clicked>
Ask username
<if> Answer= databaseUsername
<broadcast[ usernameCorrect

<when I receive[ usernameCorrect
Ask password
<if> Answer= databasePassword
<broadcast[ Login

Re: Built In Server

The only problem is that too many people using it might overload the server  hmm

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

It should allow you to make your own SEPARATE server.

Where would it be stored?

Well I doubt scratch would do this but:
They would have a large database.

You'd need a good number of servers to run everything on...as of right now, peer-to-peer Mesh seems like the best way to handle multi-computer connections...

I do, however, think that there should be Mesh blocks in Scratch to aid users unfamiliar with Mesh  wink

Scratch could make it like minecraft where you can host your own server (or do it online by DNS or VPN or something) and so scratch doesn't have to host it.

But that might take a lot of work...

That's pretty much what you're already doing with the current setup though. You don't have to use Hamachi after all; it's just easier than port forwarding.

Well, i guess...

So I guess the suggestion goes back to just making mesh blocks.

Re: Built In Server

You have to port forward it. You can use any port.
