I have a 3.4ghz quad core processor, quad core 4gb RAM, and an Nvidia GTX 260 video card.
I have two storage drives, one is 700 gb, the other 300gb.
Which processor specifically? My guess would be the Phenom II x4 965 based on those specs, but I suppose it could be an i7-2600 or a different overclocked chip.

Personally, I consider RAM, CPU and GPU to be more important than drive space. You can always buy an external drive if you need more space, and drive space gets cheaper all the time

HOW U GUESS????!?!!?!? I forgot to mention that it's an AMD II x4 965. Also, do you know any pros and cons for the ATI cards and the Nvidia ones? My father has always built our computers with Nvidia video cards in them.
By built, I mean he bought the parts individually and put them into an empty case. It's a few hundred dollars cheaper than buying a new computer.

I plan to built a hackintosh like that if I can't afford a Mac Pro when my computer breaks

Well, there are rather few quad-core processors with a 3.4 GHz stock clock to begin with. Since the i7-2600 is relatively new (and expensive), I assumed (based on your older graphics card) that your system was built before that came out. That pretty much brings it down to the 965 unless you're an overclocker, which I figured you would mention if you were.
Edit: Oh, and for AMD vs Nvidia, it's mostly preference and what's the best bang for the buck at the time. Nvidia right now has better driver support and tesselation performance, but AMD has some very compelling offerings. It really comes down to what your're looking to spend and what you want for performance.
Personally, I went with the Radeon HD 6870 because it performs well enough for me and Nvidia's closest match in that price range, the GTX 560, costs about $10-20 more and doesn't perform any better in most cases. (Plus I'm a bit of an AMD guy.)
