Um...a suggestion when he hasn't had time to edit and rewrite yet? When caleb's one paragraph into the story?
And yes, I do like to argue. It's called standing your ground and speaking up for someone."Speaking up for him"? Are you implying I'm harassing them?! If you have something against me, say it.
Okay then, just "standing your ground". I'm not saying you did anything wrong. I'm just saying that he wrote one sentence and already you're trying to make it "professional".
I never said he had to. I just said that's what I would do. If he wasn't ready to take constructive criticism, why would he post the story?

Maybe he just posted the first sentence to show he finally started. I'm not sure. All I'm saying is that you said all stuff he needed to improve, and nothing positive. I think it's good so far. Maybe that's not your opinion, but there's no need to try to change his writing style and force him to use flowery descriptions that he just can't do. I know because I'm like that myself.

Again, I never said he had to. Good books are born great, and aren't finished the first draft. They need to go through revisions. Also, just because I don't say I like it doesn't mean I hate it. I haven't even seen enough to hate it.

BTW, you are fun to argue with.![]()
Well, I enjoy arguing. Yes, it sounds weird, but it's true.
"Good books are born great"? That contradicts what you say after. Typo?

I believe that the author should do the second draft, then you should give him/her constructive criticism. There are certain things the author should change on their own, without suggestions.

Well, I've written the first paragraph, so you can tell me what you think of it:
William ducked behind a crate as a laser shot past his head. The crate was actually an armoured computer, with information stored on it. There was a small screen on the front. He opened up a flap on the armour on his wrist, and he held it next to the screen on the crate. Within a second, the information was downloaded onto the mini computer in the armour.
Suddenly, a small, round object landed on the ground in front of him. It was an EMP grenade!

There's 4 books in the series, and then several spin off books, so a total of around 12 books if I remember correctly. And it might still be continuing. But he's right, Ender's Game can't be topped by something like this at all.

You can't say that until you've actually read my book!
You never know, it might turn out to be a masterpiece (bear in mind, I have been writing stories for most of my life)!

So has Orson Scott Card. And this is far from being a book. I doubt it will even get finished, no offense.

What's an Orson Scott Card? And no offence taken. I myself doubt this will get finished!
