Nintendo seems to be trying to boost their sales by adding anything that sounds cool to the 3DS. A red colored 3DS? yup. Loads of new promising games? You better believe it. And what now? Adding a second circle pad with a new bulky cradle add-on. Really?
I don't like it. I don't understand why they need to do that so much, or why they just didn't put it on there in the first place. A few months back, I bought a new Nyko 3DS battery, that doubles the battery life (entirely worth it), but it looks like i'll be needing to put my other battery back in. Believe me, i'm not doing that. It takes forever[/exaggeration]. And so far, only one game will be supported, Monster Hunter lll. This isn't really fair, Nintendo. I hope this thing dies, before anything really bad happens (like every new game supporting this *shivers*)
What are your thoughts on this?

Yeah the 3DS looks like a flop and there's bound to be a new one with better features within a year if sales are still low. I'm looking at other portables and the PS Vita looks like the winner for this gen it should also be region free and all games should work. 3DS is region locked and that will not help sales.

I say; don't worry
Here are 3 reasons why
1) that bulky piece of #@%%$^*$&#%#@ will not be the final design.
Nintendo are not stupid. They know what they are doing. (The success of the Wii shows this)
2) it is an add-on
the same the Wii motion+ was to the wii remote
it will be used on some games; CoD ports and The Conduit. That will be all. I highly doubt Nintendo will chuck out a 3DSlite featuring the slide pade built in; it simply won't be used in many games.
3) you don't need to buy it
I swear that unless you want to play portable CoD, you will not be needing this add-on. The vast majority of Nintendo games will not support this; when was the last time you used 2 sticks to play super mario, kirby or mario kart?
I think that this will be a great idea for an add-on, as i love first person shooters.
BUT only as long as the final design won't be the same size as a truck.
wow im typing really weird today
sorry if that sounded really n00b-ish

Rumor has it they might be re-releasing a remodeled 3DS with a built-in 2nd controller nub.

(No comment cuz i might be banned for rudeness)

The problem is, instead of considering the DS players who don't need or want the 3DS, most new games (most look really awesome) are made for the 3DS. And I'm not getting that piece of lion..droppings.

It's a bad idea.

Doesn't this almost prove that a redesigned 3DS is in the works? Trying to capitalize on the Vita's (smart) move to have dual analogue sticks (or in the case, nubs)? Eh, whatever. Once a paperweight, always a paperweight.

Thing is with new gadgets, they'll be outdated in a few months. Take the iPad 2 for instance, within 3-4 months of it's release Apple announced the release of the iPad 2.
There'll be a new 3DS out in a few months I bet, and less bulky. ^-^

3DS was terrible. Fact.

Now you know what it feels like to be an iTouch owner.
Bought my 2G, then they announced the 3G a month later.

Not true. You haven't actually played one, have you? The fact is, its awesome. Nintendo loves making fans happy, just as much as making money. Thats probably more than any other company (or VG company anyway). But as long as Apple keeps making products, and they keep making CoD (literally the only things my friends talk about), the 3DS will never take off.

They did it, and I think one is enough. They need a 3d WII. the reason is because it just plugs in the wall.

Some PS3 games use 3D so the nintendo 3ds for me was nothing new because honestly the glasses don't bother me when I'm at home which is the mojority of my gaming. Oh the 3D on tv is 100 times bigger than on the DS and has both the into screen 3D and out of screen 3D...

The 3DS is a total fail. Really? I thought your XL was good, but now you are stretching the rubber band and letting go which leaves me in great pain. (XD) really Nintendo, just stop the line here and create something new like maybe a, laptop pad! (some rights reserved). That is just an example. But I agree with you AnimeCreatorArtist.

What's with all the hate in this thread?
Honestly, I think this all just has to do with poor timing on Nintendo's part. They released it in March of all months, and now they're stuck in limbo until the Christmas season.
In case you've forgotten, all of the best titles for the 3DS are scheduled to come out around November-December. It seems to me like they're just releasing things to fill the time.
Also, at everyone complaining about how the 3DS sucks and should be killed off, realize you're judging a 6-month-old console that wasn't on a very well thought out release schedule. This is Nintendo; they don't just give up on their consoles. (The only time was with the Virtual Boy, which was pretty much doomed from the start.)

I've never played Kingdom Hearts, but there's a new one coming out, that will use this...
