Well, there have been a few hackers in the past, like Kaj, so yes, the site isn't 100% secure. However, it is still safe. Whatever you do, keep your account protected at all times. I suggest picking a clever password. Every website has its hackers.

Technincly, people like Kaj just guessed other Scratchers' passwords. That's not really hacking.... But you can prevent this by choosing a hard-to-guesse password. I don't believe Scratch has truley been "hacked."

Kaj isn't a hacker. See this project for an explanation of Kaj.
@Garr8: The site is as safe as you make it to be. Because this website is open to all ages, COPPA laws prevents some personal info on the site from being shown on the site, so it's unlikely people will figure out personal information from you unless you post it publicly somewhere on the site (you may want to read up on the site's Privacy Policy for more info). There never been a case of hacking on the site, just cases of people using bad passwords, so make sure your password is really hard to get and don't give it out to anyone.
If you see something that otherwise needs the Scratch Team's attention, just report/flag it, Contact the Scratch Team and an admin will take care of it.

Well, yeah, that's kinda what I meant by "hacker".

Hacking and password guessing are two completely different things - around here, password guessing is not regarding as a hacking tactic, just a case of a user being careless with his/her password.

This site is run by MIT, one of the biggest technological institutes in the world. If anyone knows how to keep a site secure, it's them.
Don't worry - you're safe.

1.) It's site
2.) No sites are 100% safe. The forums have been spammed with inappropriate images once, and there's chances that people will someday hack people and post more stuff like that-We don't know.

The site is as safe as you make it. Don't make your password really simple like "Cheese" or "password" because those can be easily guessed. Also, don't tell anyone your password, not even your friends because they can log into your account and mess it up.

Why not link here? D:
The site is quite safe I believe. To help keep it that way, if, at any point in time you see an inappropriate comment, project or forum post, click "flag as inappropriate" or "Report". If it is something like a gallery or user icon, click "Contact us" at the bottom, and tell the Scratch Team what happened.
