how to hide/show variables?

so i want do have certain variables appear only in certain conditions. Is this possible?

You have to use the http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/images/Show_Variable_%28%29.png and http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/images/Hide_Variable_%28%29.png blocks, but I guess you figured that out.  smile

Due to a bug in the system, you must have the variables showing when you save your project. 

Then, if you don't want your variables visible at the start of your project, hide them in a green flag script.
