I think this has happened to everyone: someone leaves a comment asking a question, and you reply. Then, a different user replies to that, with another question. But how are you supposed to answer it? Should you leave a comment on one of their projects? Should you reply to your own comment, and just hope they decide to check it?
The 3 layers max rule makes sense, given how thin the comment area is. Unfortunately, it so often results in the dilemma described above.
I think you should still be able to reply after the third layer, but with some differences. First, replying wouldn't create any more layers. Second, when the box comes up, "@[user]:" would be entered by default, like on YouTube. And of course, the other user would still be able to reply.
What do you think?

or, you know, you could just reply again to the second layer like people are doing now.

That only works if the original commenter is replying, i.e.
person1
person2
person1
If it's like this, then you can reply to person1. But if it's
person1
person2
person3
There's no way to reply to person3. That's what this is supposed to fix.

Oh i c
But thats pointless because there is now a person 4 with the same problem. Amirite?
I think usually people just post on the 3rd person's projects as a reply.

I know the situation. The problem though would be Galleries and Projects being used as chatrooms

I'd like it if it was just another regular comment layer.
I have another suggestion about comments which I'll be posting in a few minutes.
EDIT: Here.
