teachers and students cant access http://scratch.mit.edu

Hello
I am an ICT technician at a school in the UK. We have a problem with teaching staff and students being able to acccess the http://scratch.mit.edu/ website. It automatically redirects to the http://scratch.mit.edu/contact/us_banned website. All of our technicians (myself etc) are able to access it. We have checked our filtering software and cant see any problems. Both technicians/Administrators and teachers have the same filtering policy. If anyone would be able to shed any light it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

It's possible that the IP address or range of addresses was banned for some violation.  I suggest you use the Contact Us form at the bottom of the page and mention the IP addresses you are having trouble with.

I have tried that but when I click the submit button all I get is "Authentication words were not entered correctly". I cant see where to enter them.

It may be a shared IP that was used by a really bad user.

Woo, even better minecraft clone! | I feel that programming is better than animation, because you can interact with games but not animations.

Maybe you could try sending an email to scratch-feedback (at) media.mit.edu with a description of your problems.  That should get through.  Substitute the @ symbol for the (at).

Re: teachers and students cant access http://scratch.mit.edu

It probably means someone at your school did something that made the Scratch team decide to ban the ip address. This ip is probably the same for the whole school, so that might be causing the problem.

A while back, someone at our school made an inappropriate change to a wikipedia article. Wikipedia decided to ban the ip, and no-one was able to visit wikipedia anymore...
