It's about a kid who grows up being trained to fight the aliens, and he's one of the best trainees they've ever had, so he has to save Earth and defeat the aliens.

Also, I'm not sure whether to base the story on another planet, a futuristic Earth, or a space ship.
The main characters are humans, by the way, so it's definitely based in the future, in case anyone was wondering.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Good idea!
I think I might set the beginning, pre-graduate stage on futuristic earth, but then after they graduate, they go off in a space ship to be space cadets. But they'll come back to earth every now and then.

I hope so.
You see, the graduates are going to join something which is kind of like the Navy, except in space. They fly around a set perimeter around the planet, and intercept any space craft that comes within the perimeter. They try to make radio contact to tell it to go away, ask it what it wants, things like that. And if it doesn't "play along," like it keeps on flying towards the planet after being told to go away, or if it doesn't make radio contact or something, then they blow it up.
That kind of thing.

Also, I'm planning something rather big for this story. It'll probably take quite a while. I'm planning to plan out the entire history of space travel, from now till when Space Academy is based. I might also include important earth events, like World War 3 (and yes, I have thought out what causes it and what would happen). So I have the entire fictional history of space travel to reference, and maybe even right a few prequels about.

Yep. Me too. They use a few kinda bad words, but not too bad, and otherwise it's a really, really good book.

:0 wow.
Sounds like an awesome idea! For my story, i just write it when i want to. I don't plan anything, because I might drastically change the story, yet if I did plan, i wouldn't be that inclined to take risks. It being a fantasy also helps, because i can be as unrealistic as i want. If you wanna read the story i'm working on, and view some of my art, click my sig. :D

Thanks. I normally just make up a story as I go along. In fact, I'd often get my characters into impossible-to-get-out-of situations, without beforehand thinking up how they're going to escape!

I do that sometimes too! It's hard because I usually write, then look back at what I've wrote, found flaws in the characters' behaviour, and don't know how to correct it ;_;.

When I wrote my first story (The Magic Bath, which I started when I was 6, stopped, and then continued and finished when I was 8) I acted it out in the garden (mostly), making it up completely as I went along. But now I don't do that, and I actually somewhat plan out my stories.

Ha ha, me too! Then I come up with some stupid way to get them out of it.
Like, once I had a character (Ben) fighting an adult (Edna) and Ben won by hitting her across the shins so she tripped.
Anyway, good luck with your story!

You know, the whole idea of The Adventures of Goldie the Superdog came from when I was playing with a toy of my friends, to entertain them. I was doing it in the same style as the old cliffhanger serials, pretending I was kind of like the narrator. I pretended that Goldie was hanging from a rope above a pit of fire and spikes, and then he fell, and it took me a few minutes to think up a way for him to survive (someone forgot to remove the safety glass above the pit of fire and spikes
). I ended up putting that in one of the stories.

What's more awesome the fighting the huge, metal, powerful robot with only your bare hands and a mallet? Nothing, that's what!

Lol. A lot of times make characters get past a wall by digging under it with their bare hands and for some reason, nobody ever sees them digging even though it takes hours.

You know, sometimes, for whatever reason, I'll think up a great action sequence, and then just come up with a story for the action sequence to be in.
And sometimes I'll come up with a story, then think up a few awesome action sequences for it, and change the story to fit the action.
One idea I've already thought of for Space Academy is a follows: One of the main characters has a fight with the huge, powerful metal robot. But the main character fights it with only his bare hands and a few tools, including a mallet. How cool would that be?!
