Shooting project/Tutorial available?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has a tutorial for getting a sprite to shoot a projectile. I have viewed a few shooting games, but can't quite follow.
I am looking for a tutorial that can explain the process. Thanks.

I basically want to create a crosshair. Allow it to move around screen. When spacebar is pressed an explosion appears in the location where the crosshair is.
