Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

Hello, I am yoshi-fan. I have been on scratch for three years. Scratch still is amazing to me, though. I didn't know I'd be in the community this long. I most likely will be in it 3 years from now. Sometimes I stumble upon a very great project, will less views than my projects. I feel sorry for those people.  sad  The things they really work hard on ends up with almost no viewers. That is one of the reasons I would like to be curator. You've probably heard that before. I was front paged once and it was awesome to see so many people play one of my projects. I was curated too for about 5 minutes but that's irreverent. Anyway, the point is that people that don't get many views at all will enjoy being front paged A LOT.

I enjoy projects that are simple or a little complex. What I enjoy the most is games, of course. I like games that show skill, patience, and projects that don't look like they were made because the creator was bored.  wink  I like big games that take at least 5 minutes to win, and games that still have more to do afterwards.  big_smile  I like adventure games with multiple levels that aren't too hard, but still bring a good challenge to beginners and experts. I also really enjoy games where you have scores. This will give both beginners and experts a chance to have fun. I really like it when either it gets harder and harder, or you have a time. Games like that are most addicting when they are easier than they look, so you want to play them over and over again. I don't like any violent projects. Mostly because they're violent. I guess I like impressive simulations, and possibly stories if their funny and good (But they don't say any bad words)  wink .

Besides that, there are projects that could live without views, and projects that need views. A very good example would be contests. When unknown people want to create contests, they barely ever can, because almost no one will nominate. The contest then ends up not ending. Other projects would be memes, and remixing. You may have a really good idea of a meme and no one will even see it or remix it. That leads to spamming which not many people want. I don't really mind if someone "unpopular" posts a "link to project" on one of my projects especially if they say something about the game too, because they are just trying to get noticed. After a while, it does get annoying, though. :\

Another type of project that needs views is a business. However, businesses don't want too many views because they don't want to be overwhelmed with work.  neutral

I don't want to sound like I'm being all nice just so I can get the curator job, but these are the kinds of projects I want to curate. Sometimes it even hurts me how I can't give them fame.

And also, you've probably heard a ton of people saying they want to curate infamous projects. Although, all good projects that people spent a lot of time on should be curated, I think infamous projects would be my top priority.

So PLEASE consider giving me the job.  smile
To show you how much I would like to be curator, check out this project I made. http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/yoshi-fan/2000441
And also, Congratulations on Scratch for FINALLY getting over 2,000,000 projects! HOORAY!!!

Hi, this is my third post about becoming a curator. I'd like to be chosen so I could show scratchers some cool projects - ones that don't get the attention they deserve. Then, the users I curate can finally be given the enthuasiasm they need, knowing someone is viewing their projects. I don't really care when I get chosen, weither its next week, or next year - I'd like to see on the front page any time throughout my Scratch Career:

I hope you choose me Moderators.

You chose "famous" projects that don't need to be curated! The point of curating is to show people projects that deserve more views!

Those are just project examples. I won't actually choose them (no offence RHY3756547, Rahi-Tak and simonpokemaster) as I will choose different ones instead. Ok?

I would like to become a curator. I think that projects that include different types of blocks and use them usefully. For example, a computer projects with a paint app and other apps that have to do with the scratch blocks.

I think that New Scratchers can't become a curator. It's especially harsh when your old accounts password didn't work so you had to restart. Just re apply once you're a  scratcher. Add helpful comments, brilliant projects and helpful forum posts.

I'm finally a Scratcher!

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

I would like to become a curator because I know what sort of things people like or what they would like to see, I am good at deciding what would be good for the front page. I wouldn't just put my friends projects up I would go for anybody's girl, boy, 'famous', moderator, whoever as long as it seems worthy of the front page, I prefer games myself, like tactical games or challenging ones but I would put up other things like funny animations, http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/AlinJack5671/1964169 , cool stories, http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Astro947/1814980 and other things like that. I would also like this opportunity because the only time I have been involved with the front page is in the 'newest projects' section so this will be a kick-start in my scratch life. this would also get me more involved with scratch itself other than posting projects and comments. I am working on a project called 'mouse trap' where you make a maze for a mouse and it will have traps on it so you can get rid of the mouse before it gets back to its hole with the cheese it stole!!!!!!!!

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

it's simple really; just put ""(without quotes) before your link, and "" after.

EDIT: GAH. I messed up. basically you put "url" in brackets ([ ]) at beginning of link and "/url" in brackets at the end.

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

Um, Scratch Team, I would REALLY appreciate it if i could get to be a curator. You said you wanted to know what style of games I would curate. I like tycoon games! And not just tycoon games... I also like those games out there that sorta hang in the balance between tycoon and RPG. I don't know what that type of game is called, but I know lots.
Here's one: It's called Mikkiville.  See what I mean?  Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I would VERY much appreciate it if you would let me be curator.

P.S. What IS that type of game called?

A virus doesn't eat away immediately, it takes time. You probably got it from another website, but the virus didn't kick in until that time.
Tell me one logical explanation why you'd get a virus from Scratch, while nobody else got one.

A virus doesn't eat away immediately, it takes time. You probably got it from another website, but the virus didn't kick in until that time.
Tell me one logical explanation why you'd get a virus from Scratch, while nobody else got one.

I have no Idea, but scratch is pretty much the only website ive been on, it couldnt of been Neopets, cuz ive been there for 5 years, I dont know why, but it took around 15 min. for it to kill my computer! so I dont know, but scratch was where it came from, because I havnt been on any other websites all week!

It's literally impossible you got a virus from this site alone, while nobody else did.

Sorry to start an argument but in reality If any hacker enters a virus onto a page on the forums or a project and someone doesnt have good security and views it a virus could easily enter a computer

Check out this awesome new zombie-cod type of game: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/4lover/1975649

Nobody else got the virus-Explain that. And Scratch is safe-It can have links to viruses, but it doesn't have viruses.

With a straight flush.

Right... MIT is going to give out viruses...

But 1) you need to take your problem somewhere else. it doesn't belong here.

2) You did not get a virus from scratch.
