What other way could it have?

Things get popular by giving it out to friends, they give it out to their friends and so on. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

I'm sure the main reasons are people looking up both cats and easy programming languages

A lot of people probably found out about it the same way I did; one of our teachers told us about it. I've heard people say that, people say their parents showed it to them, etc.

2007: People started to go to the site in small groups, learning how to program. People made simple games, and helped each other out. A very good year.
2008: Art projects appeared. A few people, such as kaotheroogencreator, rose to power during this time and made manga warriors pictures that took an average of five minutes to draw. They started to make animations, voiced by pre-pubescent girls. Suddenly, Kao deleted all her projects. The most widely held reason was that Half_Life_2's projects would be remixes of her animations. He would change them around to poke fun at it. She thought he was making fun of her stuff and deleted all her projects.
2009: Like 2008, except nikkiperson, wodunne, and a few others came up and made animations. Wodunne made a simple, but fun, halo game. It became extremely popular. People started to flock to scratch in droves, nikkiperson and kao spread the idea of art projects.
2010: A troll comic appeared, making fun of people. Many bans were spread out and most of the famous people were perma'd. Some came back, having apoligized to the scratch team, and all was well.
2011:Today.
