When you compare it to the 6/7 billion people on Earth, it's not a lot of people. However, a death is always a morbid occasion, and I feel sorry for the families of those unlucky few.

I agree with you. Some hurricanes can kill tons and tons of people. I think we were lucky that more people did not get hurt/killed. Also, I heard some of the deaths were because people were going out on the beach and swimming in the ocean when it was not safe.
