I think the perspective depends on where you live and how the Hurricane affected you.
I'm pretty sure that most of those living near the coast and still suffering from floodwater would say that the damage brought on by Hurricane Irene was bad as the news made it out to be, while those not badly affected by it would say that it was an exaggeration.

You never know. I'd imagine that it would be hard for them to agree that it was an exaggeration when they have no homes to go back to and have to rebuild everything they once had.

They made a very big deal about it but it does not seem like it's really bad.

Agreed. All it was around here was just wind and rain. Nothing blew up like I hoped it would :'(
