Should I get a new laptop or iPad?

My computer is reaching the end of it's life. I bought it a few years ago for $450. An iPad now is $500. My mom said I could choose.  big_smile

Now, to list my pros and cons for each:

Laptop pros:

Has more storage
Physical keyboard
I'm used to it

iPad pros:

More portable
More in style  tongue

Laptop cons:

hmm

iPad cons:

Less storage
Harder to use the keyboard
Can't do Scratch on it  yikes


The final decision is up to me; I just want to hear your inputs. I've never used an iPad before either.  tongue

Oh, and if I get the computer, it's Windows. Understand?

I think a new computer(apple) unless you want to have games and stuff like that.

Well, a laptop would be able to do more stuff... and posting on the Scratch forums (or editing the wiki) is way harder on an iPad  tongue

IMO the laptop is good; the iPad is interesting but it seems the main point there is flashiness xP

Laptop. More processing power and the iPad is overpriced for what it is. It IS good, don't get me wrong, but Apple seem to overprice companies like Microsoft and say that it's better because of the higher price (when you can get cheaper but faster PC's).

On the other hand... Apple stuff is reliable...

But I'd still go with laptop.

I might return for a little while.

Ipad is good for portability. Although laptops aren't that bad at that. I'd say laptop.

I say new laptop (Windows 7).  It has more storage, has a keyboard (the iPad keyboard is TERRIBLE), can downloads stuff like Scratch, and can run Java, Flash, and a bunch of other stuff.  Also, I suggest the avast! antivirus just because it's free, and works really well.  The new Mac update (Lion, known officially as version 10.7) is terrible, and all Macs can't run .exe files.

Fine by me. It's better for Mac owners not to encourage people because that will encourage viruses as well.

You can run exe files on macs.


Objection!!!
I believe that lion is better than snow leopard... So opinions aren't going to help you.
However, I'm pretty sure sci only has the budget for a windows... Mac books are over $1000. And if you have patience, the ipad keyboard is pretty good, I'm typing this entire message with my iPod...

And quit saying windows has viruses I've had a windows computer for years and I haven't gotten a single virus

I'd say laptop with Win7, though we all know my preferred computer is a desktop with WinXP/Ubuntu.  tongue
