Help with sprites made in scratch

I've made some sprites in scratch and I want to know if there is a way to get them on my computer. I tried exporting them but they only save as files that only work in scratch.

You can right-click on a costume and choose export, and it doesn't export as a scratch sprite.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.
