I just got the idea of making a card game on scratch. It would be like a game where you choose the starter deck and you level up your monster cards and certain cards can only be equipped with certain item cards that increase your cards attack and that's all I have.

We once tried to make one like a year ago, we only created the cards (100-ish cards), a storyline but we didn't even work on the engine
I suggest that you work on the engine before you do anything.

The card game should be simple so the engine isn't that hard to make, and people can understand the game quickly. Perhaps have monster and item cards like you said, plus event cards perhaps.
Monster cards would have 3 levels, each level gives it a new ability, like an attack. You may use one ability per monster card per turn, and the monster levels up each time you defeat an opponent's monster. Item cards give new abilities and event cards do whatever they say, usually at a cost like discarding a card or leveling down a monster.
Decks would have 30 cards (I'd like a "quick game" approach, more than a "complex, overly strategic" game approach).

First we'll have to define some rules. If we consider just what I posted, perhaps we could use lists to store card data (ID of card = list number, which will have HP, ability, etc.) and more lists for each deck and hand.
