Re: why people quit scratch

cause they get bored or can't come on anymore

Dear Scratch Users,
I'm done with scratch, or at least making projects. I have made one last big game, thats both fun and teaches a lesson about water. It'd mean a lot if you gave me feedback.                              http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/bosox397/569201

Re: why people quit scratch

These people have posted meaningful projects. They didn't catch on.
They feel depressed.
They look at their projects. 1 view.
They look at the frontpage top remixed. It says
IF SCRATCH DOESNT IMPROVE I WILL QUIT
They see the 500 views. They see the begging. They see the love-its. They see the "if you agree remix this"s.
They see, in short, a new way.
1 typing storm later, without even bothering to proofread, the project is posted.
They look the next day. Huh? There is no frontpage. There is no begging. There are no love-its. There are no remixes.
There aren't even any views.

"What?", they say. "How can this be?"
The perfect plan failed. Condemned to the trash forever.
At their wit's end, they fulfill their last promise.

They quit.

Goodbye.

Never get too close to emotionally unstable ScratchRs.

Re: why people quit scratch

You can't expect everyone to stay on Scratch forever. People move on, lose interest, or learn more advanced programming.

I am learning more advanced programing, and I still do scratch.

Re: why people quit scratch

I think people quit scratch because they make really good projects yet nobody looks at their projects. While other peoples projects have 100 views and 20 loveits and they think that their projects are just as good. They think that nobody will ever see their projects so they just give up.

Re: why people quit scratch

I couldn't quit even if I wanted to, no matter how few views I get.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Re: why people quit scratch

It's true.  It is hard to get view initially.  I'm very proud of my DemonSlayer series, but has been difficult to get widespread viewing by people.  You can't give up though.  You need to advertise- put projects into lots of galleries, comment on other projects yourself.  It's hard.  It takes effort.  I guess that when people aren't up to this type of effort they get discouraged.  It's too bad because scratch can still give personal satisfaction even if the community does not acknowledge a project.
